Darigold says that it is now making packaged organic products for the retail and foodservice channels, and working with manufacturing customers to produce custom organic ingredients.

This marks an expansion of the company’s activities in the organic category, which previously included processing organic milk and working with co-pack partners.

To support this shift, Darigold is adding organic segregation and processing capabilities to a fourth plant. Darigold says that the move will allow it to offer more organic ingredients, branded consumer products and co-packed products to meet increased customer demand for organic options.

The co-op has recently entered the branded organic segment with the launch of two new products: Darigold Northwest Organic Milk and Darigold FIT Organic Milk.

Both products are initially available at select Costco warehouses and will expand to other retailers over the coming year.

“Darigold is proud to offer a new local, organic milk option and is excited about the Fit brand extension,” said Duane Naluai, president of Darigold’s consumer products.

“Our customers not only expect superior quality nutrition and great taste from all our dairy products, but demand for locally sourced certified-organic products is growing. That is why we continue to expand our milk selections to now include Northwest Organic Milk and Fit Organic Milk from Darigold.”

Earlier this year, Darigold revealed that it had invested $67 million in its Boise, Idaho production facility, as it looked to meet the growing demand for its Fit Milk.
